The Ginger Cat Presents an Evening with Graeme Armstrong in partnership with Erskine Arts.
Join us for an evening with award-winning author Graeme Armstrong as he discusses his new book Raveheart with poet Len Pennie, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Books available on the night.
Graeme Armstrong is a Scottish writer from Airdrie. His teenage years were spent within North Lanarkshire’s gang culture. Alongside overcoming his own struggles with drug addiction, alcohol abuse and violence, he defied expectation to read English as an undergraduate at the University of Stirling; where, after graduating with honours, he returned to study a Masters’ in Creative Writing. His bestselling debut novel, THE YOUNG TEAM, is inspired by his experiences.
In 2023, Graeme Armstrong was chosen as one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists, an accolade that is awarded once a decade. Raveheart is his second novel.

Frankly at Erskine Arts - Former First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon in Conversation with Nicola Meighan. Followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. The paperback of Frankly will be available before and following the event.

Come along to Mocha JaK’s where you’ll find us upstairs with a wide range of books for adults and children
We’ll be at the Wild Ivy Market at Johnstone Town Hall with a pop-up bookshop on 18/07/26 from 11am-4pm. We’ll have a variety of books for kids and we’ll also be bringing lots of blind dates with a book for the adults! Who doesn’t love a mystery read!
We’ll be heading to the Lanark Makers and Merchants Market on Saturday 1st August from 10am-2pm with our bookshop pop-up. Come along and see the amazing stalls!

our story
The Ginger Cat Bookshop was founded in 2021, beginning life as a dedicated children’s bookshop in Kilmacolm. As our community grew, so did we - relocating to Bridge of Weir and expanding into a welcoming, independent bookshop for readers of all ages.
From the very beginning, we’ve been passionate about bringing books to life beyond the page. We’ve hosted author events in schools, within the bookshop, and at venues across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. Along the way, we also launched the Gryffe Valley Book Festival, celebrating storytelling and creativity within our local community.
We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming a wide range of authors, from bestselling crime writer Ann Cleeves to John Davidson and the Reverend Richard Coles. Supporting our community has always been central to what we do, and we are proud to have worked alongside charities such as Women’s Aid and Young Carers.
In early 2025, we were honoured to be shortlisted as a Scottish finalist at the British Book Awards, a testament to the incredible support from our readers and community.
Later that year, we made the difficult decision to close our physical bookshop when our lease came to an end. However, this was not the end of The Ginger Cat Bookshop, just a new chapter.
Today, we continue as a pop-up bookshop, bringing carefully curated books to new spaces and audiences, while continuing to host the author events that have always been at the heart of what we do.
